Winning Debut for Lorne Loxterkamp
The GC Handicap Central North team played their first match of the season away at Kington Langley last Sunday. The combination of very cold wind and the slopes of the one and a half lawns made play challenging. The team got off to a good start winning the two doubles and one single in the first round. The second round saw Kington Langley triumph 2-1 but from then on each round saw Bath increasing their margin including winning all three games in the last round. Captain Norman Connor made a good tactical decision in giving Lorne Loxterkamp an extra game in the last round instead of himself. Lorne, on his competitive debut for the club, had an excellent day winning 3 out of his 4 singles matches as well as his two doubles matches partnering Pete Riley. Tony Curson also had a good day, winning all 3 of his singles matches (reducing his handicap to 3 as a result) and his doubles match partnering Miriam Bolger. Pete, Miriam and Norman also contributed a further 4 singles wins in the final score of 13-7 to Bath.
