All England GC Handicap Final

September 18th 2019

As a result of her performance in the South West Area Final Miriam Bolger qualified for the All England GC Handicap National Final which took place at Camerton last weekend. There were 14 qualifiers from the four area finals, ranging in handicap from -4 (James Galpin and Simon Carter) to +12, with an all play all format over two days. Miriam, ranked 11th of the 14 competitors, started off well on the first morning with two wins but found 12 games in very hot conditions tiring and finished in 10th position overall. She did however defeat Simon Carter (UK number 17) 7-4 in their match.
The tournament was won by Dominic Aarvold (Bristol) who has reduced his handicap from 6 to 3 since playing against Bath in the handicap league in mid July. In second place was world U21 runner up James Galpin (-4).
