Opening Federation Match of Season v Glamorgan – 11 July 2021
Bath Croquet welcomed a Glamorgan team on a cool cloudy day; the afternoon games were played in steady rain. The threesome Glamorgan team comprised a -1, 1 and 1 handicaps against Pete Miles 2, Richard Jelly 8 and Lynne Passfield 12. Pete and Lynne got Bath off to a great start by winning the doubles 26-3 in under two hours. Richard failed to protect a decent lead to succumb on his opponents last turn, losing 22-25. In the afternoon rain Pete lost to the highly rated Chris Williams 9-26, Richard beat Paul Pristavec 26-17 and Lynne narrowly failed to hang on to her lead, creditably losing to Robert Upton 17-20. So, Bath narrowly lost, two games to three. Much credit goes to Lynne who played fearlessly in her first Federation match.
