Defeat at the Last for Federation Team

April 24th 2010

Parkstone 4 | Bath 3

In the away match at Parkstone Bath were only beaten by a slim margin in the dying moments of the match. Captain Peter Miles (3.5) was overtaken by Roger Hesketh (8) to lose on time, after Miles had been leading for most of the game.

At lunchtime the team were encouraged by being in the lead 2-1, thanks to Miles and Roger Hayes both winning their morning singles games, whilst Ian Lewis and Richard Stopforth suffered defeat in the doubles.

Lewis and Stopforth continued their misfortune in the afternoon singles, with Bath’s only win coming courtesy of club Chairman Hayes who beat Roy Edwards (2.5) by completeing a Straight Double Peel to win 26 – 22 in a tightly timed game.
